Wife of the Year?

Ok, maybe not the year, but definitely of the day.

Today was grocery shopping day. I went ahead and did it alone because John was sleeping. I went to two stores (you know, to make sure I get the best deals) and it always takes me forever when I do the shopping by myself. So about 2 hours later I got home and I'm putting everything away when I realized that I was missing a couple bags! I went back to the store to get them, and a long ordeal later I walked away with two bags of stuff that I left behind and I got a refund for some other stuff that went MIA.

After the second trip John had woken up and wanted to get started on dinner. So we went to get propane, and then came back and I made Ranch Turkey burgers (super yummy) and a strawberry spinach salad (also super yummy), then after dinner I made a fruit dip (you guessed it...super yummy). I cleaned up dinner (put some dishes in the dishwasher, hand washed others, put the food away), and scrubbed the kitchen. After the kitchen was done I went outside and cleaned the pack patio which was hella nasty- grass shavings, John's old shoes, dog hair, dirt, spider webs...totally gross, but now it's SO much better. I also deep cleaned our grill. It had been left uncoverd at our old place so it had pine needs, dirt, a whole bunch of nastiness on it. That took me at least 40 minutes to clean. Then I went in the yard and tried to take care of our weeds. I don't know the first thing about yard care, all I know is that it needs to be mowed. So I tried to take care of the weed problem we have, only got about half done when the bottle ran out so I'll have to finish tomorrow. And then I came in and started laundry.

Seriously people, I'm exhausted. And I still have homework to do.

I need coffee.

Tomorrows agenda is to go to church, go back to the store and get more weed killer, come back and try to take care of the rest, clean the front patio, clean the carpet, and the bathrooms.

Owning a home is so much work. I don't know if we'll ever be caught up with everything that needs to be done.

By the way, does anyone have tips on yard care? Is there something that I'm supposed to be doing to the yard (other than mowing it) that I don't know about? Any tips on planting flowers? I literally know nothing about this stuff.

  1. Super woman!!! But I don't have a clue about yard work. I remember pulling weeds from the flower beds and my dad spraying blue stuff all over the yard each summer. And they got special spray to kill crab grass that wouldn't kill the good grass... and they aerated it once a year, too. We had a beautiful yard. :)
