Lock Out

Tonight we made a dumb mistake. One that would only happen to us.

After dinner John and I were locking up the house, more specifically, the doors to the garage. You see, we have a garage door (naturally) but it’s an old fashioned one that you lift & shut with your hands and lock from the inside, we also have a regular door at the front of the house that leads to the garage, and a door that leads from the garage to the backyard. We locked them all up (bolts and all) and then came back inside. When we came inside John asked me how I ended up locking myself out of the house yesterday (cuz I did). I honestly didn’t know how. I had somehow locked the door that led from the house to the garage, in the three months we’ve been here we didn’t even know that we could lock that door, but somehow, I lock it yesterday and couldn’t get back in. Tonight, John was asking me how I locked it. After figuring out how I did, he shut the door. The locked door. And the thing about it is, it locks from inside of the garage. Yep. It sure does.

So yesterday I wasn’t really locked out, I just didn’t know it. Tonight; however, we really are locked in. There is no key that opens said door, we tried to take the hinges off the door, John tried doing some crazy guy stuff (and by “guy stuff” I mean dumb things that only a proud man who can’t fix something would do). Until, I finally convinced him into letting me call our landlord. He came right over not really understanding our dilemma. He didn’t know the door locked either. So, at the moment we’re still locked out of our garage. Tomorrow morning at 10 AM, my landlord will be here with a crow bar to open one of the doors to the garage.

Yep. Only us.
